Connected by Loneliness

“Simple moments of sharing life with others will, over time, lead to a profound impact on who we are.” -Indy Blue Severe

Connection is powerful. Without genuine connection, the only feeling that remains is loneliness. Loneliness is a universal experience that affects us all at various stages of our lives.

Sometimes I feel lonely. I navigate through life, day in and day out, feeling disconnected from the people I care about most.

I miss my sister. We grew up and chose different states to pursue our passions. I haven’t seen her face-to-face in months.

My home no longer carries the same dynamics it once did. The familiar atmosphere that shaped my upbringing for 20 years has changed, leaving me uncertain about how to adapt.

Growing up is an inevitable part of life, and people will leave. Sometimes, it can be difficult to accept this concept, because the new normal is their absence. You find yourself trying to fill the void they once occupied, feeling disconnected from the person who was once there.

Everyone experiences loneliness. And really, the funny thing about loneliness is the irony of it all. We all feel so alone, yet when you think about it, we are unified in the way we all experience this emotion.

In today’s interconnected world, we can challenge the loneliness. , We have the means to stay connected with our friends and family, bridging the gap of physical distance. We can send text messages to let our friends know we are thinking about them. We can be a listening ear through video calls when our children are homesick and need someone to talk to. We can witness the growth and changes in our loved ones through photos and videos, even if we can’t be there in person.

We have an inherent need for connection. As human beings, we are wired to crave this feeling, and it becomes challenging to move forward without it. However, there is a bright side. The world is evolving, and there has never been a better time when physical proximity is no longer a requirement to fulfill our longing for connection. We have the tools to stay connected from a distance, but what steps will you take to make sure that time goes uninterrupted?

We don’t want you to feel lonely.
